Client study - Beemech

Beemech is a company which specialise in the repair and service of BMW cars with an emphasis on the top-end models such as the M3 and M5.

The owner of Beemech contacted creatopia asking for a full corporate identity, business cards, fliers and a new website.
His brief for the logo was that it should let people know instantly that the servicing and repair of BMWs was his main business. The cards and website should project the quality of the work Beemech and that the owners of high-end BMW cars expect.

Identity
The logo is without doubt a little cheeky. The blue quarters of a the BWM logo were alleged to be a stylised version of a spinning propeller blade - a hark back to the days when BWM made planes. Whilst this is not actually true it seemed fun to ape this myth with spinning spanners. Several different spanners were drawn, open, ring and combinations of both. Variations on the number of spanners were also tried until we found a look which worked.
A clean look was decided on for the printed material keeping to blue, black and plenty of white. For the business card prominence was given to the logo. A blue address bar at the bottom is a key part of the identity. This is repeated on all corporate documentation providing a unified, instantly recognisable look along with useful contact details.

Flier cards
The client originally wanted some standard A5 fliers
During the discussion process it was revealed that the clients' wife had taken some excellent photographs of BMWs. It was decided to ditch the flier idea in favour of A6 photo-based postcards. There was little difference in costs and we felt potential new customers were more likely to keep hold of an artistic looking card - maybe pinned to a board or stuck on the fridge - and have it available when they needed it.
The reverse side contains a single colour map along with descriptive text as to Beemechs' line of work.

Web site
A small six page site was required. It informs customers of what Beemech do and how to find them along with a contact form and customer testimonials.
The design naturally fits in with the printed material however we have used darker shades where we would have used white on the printed material. This gives the site a clean, classy feeling without being overly bright.
Images used on the postcards have been re-used in the header along with other, similar photographs. These are set to rotate randomly.
